Driving Miss Donna - what does this mean? Whenever I want to go somewhere, if Don is home he will usually drive. He always says he is driving miss Donna! This blog is for our travels, usually with our truck and fifth wheel trailer, but sometimes in our other wheels. When we are not vacationing check in for updates, although less frequent, about our life at home and our wonderful family:)

Summer Days

I can barely remember everything that has happened this summer. It was filled with so many great moments and perhaps I need to slow down and enjoy a bit more.

We always try to do some more major upkeep at home and this year it was new concrete. We enlarged the patio area, put in sidewalk where there was only sidewalk blocks, and tried again to stabilize the side steps. One more effort for that or next year new steps!

To start the summer we went on a camping trip to Jasper with the Cameron family. It was a great time in a wonderful place and are so thankful we all fit this in!

When we returned home form the long weekend we had company waiting! Ginger and Ben were in town, with part of their family. We had a great visit and I played tourist a bit with them as well. We went to Spruce Grove's Canada Day celebration, and myself and grandchildren joined them for a day at the zoo.

At the same time Ken and Brenda were staying with us as they had a grandson playing in the Brick Tournament. So lots of people, activity and fun!

Ben is certainly braver than I! Checking the garage roof??

After the company was gone Mason and Lucy (their dog) joined us for a few days while Connor was away at Scout Camp on Vancouver Island and mom and dad were at the Stampede. It's always a blast having Mason! I took Mason and his cousins and their mom Nicole to the Sylvan Lake Wibit. It was the perfect road trip!!

We had another trip to Tisdale this summer for a very exciting adventure! Don's 50th High School Reunion. Can you imagine?? Although my 45th will be in September, haha. We both had such a great time. Of course I didn't know as many of Don's class as he did, but I did know some of the spouses. They had a 74% attendance rate which seems pretty good to me after 50 years. It was fun watching Don with old friends; Larry, Al, Brent, to name a few. The organizers did such a great job reaching out to everyone, the dinner, breakfast, everything so thank you to them.

They managed a couple of photos too. This is form the Sunday morning breakfast so not all are here that attended the reunion.

The rest of July was spent doing some of our favorite things - Lacrosse playoff games, babysitting Lucy, helping the girls get to Ringette camp in Leduc, a sleepover, etc.

I also joined the Cameron girls and the Stecyk family at A Taste of Edmonton. That is always such a fantastic event and this year I felt the food was maybe even a bit better!

As the end of July approached I did something kind of new to me - I went to visit my friend Darlene in Victoria. We packed so much into 2 days it is still exhausting to consider. Lots of Co-op visits, and fine food and beverages. Maybe too many beverages! If you haven't been to China Town you need to visit, it is an incredible area of history!

When I flew home I took a shuttle to the Edmonton Outlet Mall where Don was waiting and we were off on an Albertan/British Columbia camping adventure!

Our first stop was Ivan's on the James River, where spent our days eating copious amounts of food and beverage, and touring and revisiting parts of Alberta we hadn't been to in a while.

After Ivan's we headed to one of our favorite Canadian boondocking spots near Cranbrook, BC. We really chilled out there, doing lots of nothing. We had a couple of visits though with our friends Lorne and Michelle, who we met a few years ago in another near to Cranbrook spot.

And since the Stecyks were camped in near by Fernie we took an afternoon to meet them for lunch and ice cream!

We had one more stop on our tour and this one is the BEST Alberta camping you will ever fond - you guessed Abraham Lake you are right!

This was to meet Jim and Janice for a week. There seems to be a trend towards food and drink, and we loved it all!

That's Jim - the ultimate BBQ man. haha

It was a great 2 weeks away!

Summer was almost over when I realized I took Mason to the Wibit, but no one else. So... Emerson, Reese, Connor and Mason and I piled into the Jeep and we caught another gorgeous day at Sylvan Lake!

And... we also fit in one last visit to the corn maze with the Stecyks and their Stecyk Grandma and cousins.

Well as summer comes to an end I am a happy tired. That was a great two months condensed for you. We can't forget the dinner sand visits with the kids throughout the days of summer, and all the friends visits we had!

The first few weeks of September have some down time so you may not here form me for a while. Maybe after our trip to the East Costa? That's a teaser for you!
