Hard to believe it’s over already. I know I keep saying never to wish days away because you don’t get them back, so I tried hard to enjoy January. It was an odd month for me and a very long work month for Don. I think he deserves to wish it away.
January 2 both Don and I headed to Fort McMurray. Don worked trying to get permissions for access to land and ploughing roads, and I worked at Volunteer Wood Buffalo, getting a feel for what needs to be done this month. Plans are written in soap, and we headed back home on Friday as the calls Don needed did not come in on time. So the good thing was spending a few more days at home, but for Don it wasn’t the greatest, as he would just have to get the work done anyway. He headed back north on Monday afternoon, and worked there straight through to the 25th.
I had more down time that week. I was finally able to spend some time with Tracy and the kids. I know we live close but there aren’t that many days where I actually spend a lot of time with them. As the kids grow the opportunities go away, with school and activities. My time was spent putting away Christmas, a lot of volunteer work, and then headed back to Fort Mac on Wednesday to babysit Connor, as Linds and Jer were going on their first childless vacation! They met some friends in Los Angeles for a few days.
And as I say – that was January, in a blur!
